Just when you though the Mercedes SL 65 couldn’t get any better, the companies crazy friends over at AMG have gotten hold of it. They’ve upped the power from 435 HP in the 6.0 litre V12 to a mind blowing 630 HP which is good enough to power the coupe from 0-62 MPH in just 4 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155 MPH.
Design wise the car has little on the surface to suggest it’s AMG status apart from the large side vents and branding on the boot. A low stance and a long bonnet give off a large street presence with 19 inch rims giving it some bling, aided by the unique chrome grill. Carbon fibre and aluminium team up to make the car light, 170 KG lighter than the previous SL 65 AMG to be precise.
Inside, owners will find a high quality interior with quirky features like the AirScarf which wafts warm air over the necks of passengers when the roof is down. An analogue clock, carbon fibre inserts, 6 disc DVD changer and patterned leather all add to the premium feel to the interior.
Mercedes are looking to an Autumn 2012 launch in the UK with pricing to be confirmed.
